- Subvention grants are available only to members of the AAH. Anyone may join at any time.
- Awards are open only to advanced graduate students and junior faculty. For subvention purposes, “junior” means someone in the early stages of his or her career. The committee reserves the right to determine of an applicant is considered junior or not.
- The committee will give preference to those who have not received a previous subvention award.
- AAH members may receive no more than two meeting subvention awards; the awards need not be in consecutive years.
- Each year the committee names one applicant as the winner of the “Betty Coate Award,” named for a very generous donor to the AAH subvention fund. The Betty Coate Award typically goes to the recipient of the largest grant that year, and the winner receives special recognition at the conference.
- While applicants need not present papers in order to win, award recipients are expected to attend the AAH business meeting in order to be recognized.
- In order to facilitate the process, the application deadline will be at the end of January and the award decisions will be made by February 15.
