There are three categories of membership in the AAH: Regular, Associate, and Life.  Members in any category may attend the meetings and are entitled to participate fully in the life of the organization.  Regular membership is available to all persons with an interest in the study of the Ancient Mediterranean world.  The dues are $12.50 per year.  Associate membership is available to those enrolled in a school, college or university; the dues are $10.00 per year.  Dues may be paid five years in advance.  Regular and Associate dues are reduced to $7.50 and $5.00 per year respectively, if members choose to receive the newsletter exclusively by electronic means.   Life membership is available to retired members who are at least 60 years old upon payment of a one-time subscription of $125.00. 

If you are not a member of AAH and would like to join, or if you are a current member and wish to renew membership, There are two ways to proceed:  you may choose to remit via traditional mail, in which case, download the member information form, fill in the information, enclose a check or money order (in most currencies), and mail to:

Alternatively, you may choose to handle this transaction entirely by electronic means, in which case, click here to visit our electronic store and follow appropriate instructions.  This is option is open to all, but it is especially designed to facilitate payments by members not resident in the United States.

Our electronic List:  The Association has an electronic list: AAHLIST@list.associationofancienthistorians.org. This is a moderated forum; only the secretary can post directly to this list and only members may participate in it. This device will enable the officers and designees of the AAH to send messages and announcements to the membership via e-mail. This will not be yet another spam-engine destined to fill member mail boxes with trash. All submissions by members or requests by outside correspondents will be previewed and/or edited by the Secretary. This will not replace the newsletter. Instead, it will become a vehicle to carry time-sensitive messages that might otherwise be mooted or compromised by the gap between their submission to the secretary and the mailing date of our newsletter.   I anticipate that members will receive only a dozen or so messages per year and that these messages will fit into three predictable categories: "Calls for Papers," messages from or sanctioned by the officers of the AAH, and information relevant to our annual meeting.

Members may relay messages intended for email re-distribution by sending them directly to this address:

The secretary will then post the message, if appropriate. Otherwise, the submission will be used in the next newsletter. All members of the AAH for whom email addresses are on record are now automatically enrolled.  You may self-enroll by sending an email message to "aahlist-on@list.associationofancienthisotrians.org" with any subject or body. If, for whatever reason, you desire not to be enrolled on this list, send an email message to "aahlist-off@list.associationofancienthistorians.org" with any subject or body. If you have any problems with these commands, contact me directly at rhowarth@mercyhurst.edu and I will make the necessary changes.
